More progress . . .

The Youth Services department has been carpeted, painted (notice the green wall), and the shelving has been put back in the area.

This week the work has progressed to the back staff room and the open area under the skylight. Soon, the Circulation Desk will be installed.

End of Week One

The old carpet has been removed and a lot of the new carpet has been installed. Painting is also in progress.
We have been busy in the "Little Library". We are open our regular hours Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays during the remainder of the project.

Welcome to December

The Circulation desk was dismantled this morning and carpet has been delivered. Library staff are working in tight quarters, many have been displaced temporarily. The library has been located in the meeting room since Friday and we have been busy. Please remember that we have limited services but we are here to help you in person, by phone or at www.caryarealibrary.info where you can ask us a question through meebo web messenger.

Come in and browse for a DVD, holiday book, holiday CD or new fiction title. Staff is available to help you search online for materials not currently accessible.

Collections are on the move

Collections have been moved and the Youth Services desk has been dismantled in preparation for the renovation.


Visit us in the "little library." The south portion of the meeting room has 3 15-minute internet stations, the MyMediaMall download station, our DVD collection and holiday items for checkout, and staff on hand to help with your research questions and checkouts.

The Project Begins...

Today is Wednesday, November 26 and the Youth Services Desk has been dismantled. The Youth Services DVDs are on carts and the Adult Services DVDs will be put on carts by the end of the day. The copier has moved into our new temporary home in the meeting room. While we are morphing the south half of the meeting room into the "Little Library", our sprinkler pipes continue to be replaced, the electrician has begun to remove the track lighting and staff are packing their office spaces.


The library has been hopping today with everyone trying to stock up for the holiday weekend. While we will be in a small space for several weeks, remember that we can still get library materials for you. You can browse our online catalog and you can still place a hold from home in iBistro. We will pull requests from the shelves when the items are available and contact you when they are ready to be picked up.


For those of you who are interested in the online garage sale, we hope that it will be available early next week. With all of the packing and moving this week, library staff members are still finding items that we plan to add to the sale.


Remember that we are only open until 5:00 pm today and we are closed tomorrow for the Thanksgiving holiday. Enjoy your holiday and keep in mind that the Cary Area Public Library is still open but with limited services.
